Saturday 16th September

8-hour vigil, Eastern Docks, Dover
CIWF’s CALF ACTION WEEK proved to be a great success and the 8-hour vigil was well-attended by CIWF supporters and CIWF Chief Executive, Philip Lymbery.

Dover Shipments

Friday 15th September:
The night before the vigil, we joined KALE for the nightly shipment. A sad event where we saw trucks full of calves and sheep, to our shock we saw a calf hoof hanging out of the top tier shutter, struggling to withdraw back into the truck. This was reported and allegedly there was an inspection of the truck 5 minutes later.

Last week:
Ships sailed on Tuesday 19, Wednesday 20 and Friday 22nd September

This week:
Shipments this week are expected Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 September.

Sadly, the last couple of months have seen an increase in live sheep exports.

KALE holds monthly demos in Dover on the first Saturday of each month between 2-3pm at Eastern Docks Roundabout. Please contact KALE's information news line on 01304 204688 for more information and up to date news on shipments and demos.

CALF ACTION WEEK 12-18 SEPTEMBER

Compassion in World Farming’s (CIWF) national CALF ACTION WEEK campaign launched on Tuesday 12 September outside DEFRA’s regional office in Taunton, Somerset and concluded Saturday 16 September with a successful eight-hour vigil at Eastern Docks, Dover.

CIWF staff and supporters joined together to raise essential awareness and gain local support for CIWF’s ‘Stop live Export’ campaign in a bid to spare thousands of British calves from long miserable journeys to continental veal farms that would often be considered illegal under UK legislation.

Dover shipments expected this week

Tuesday 19 September, Wednesday 20, and Friday 21 September.
